Mae nifer o broblemau sydd i’w gweld yn achosi pryderon yn rheolaidd mewn trafnidiaeth ysgol, felly rydym yn ysgrifennu atoch i’ch atgoffa am y gofynion sydd ar rieni/gofalwyr a disgyblion o ran defnyddio trafnidiaeth ysgol.

  • Mae’n hanfodol bod pob plentyn sy’n defnyddio trafnidiaeth ysgol yn dal pas bws dilys naill ai gan y Cyngor neu gan y gweithredwr (neu bas dros dro/llythyr gan yr ysgol os oes angen hynny). Dylid dangos y pas bws i’r gyrrwr bob tro y mae’r disgybl yn dod ar y bws. Bydd peidio â dangos y pas bws yn arwain at beidio â gadael i'r disgybl deithio ar y bws. Cyfrifoldeb y rhiant/gofalwr yw sicrhau bod ei blentyn/plant yn mynd i mewn i’r bws yn y bore ac os nad yw/ydynt yn cael mynd i’r bws oherwydd nad oes ganddo/ganddynt bas bws dilys, cyfrifoldeb y rhiant/gofalwr yw mynd â’r plentyn/plant i’r ysgol. Gall disgybl dderbyn pas bws dros dro gan swyddfa’r ysgol tan brynir pas arall gan Gyngor Bro Morgannwg.

  • Mae Deddf Traffig Ffyrdd 1988 yn llywodraethu gwisgo gwregysau diogelwch ac mae deddfwriaeth yn mynnu bod pob disgybl sy’n teithio mewn cerbyd trafnidiaeth ysgol yn defnyddio’r gwregysau diogelwch a roddir. Cyfrifoldeb y disgybl yw sicrhau ei fod yn gwisgo ei wregys diogelwch. Bydd cynorthwyydd teithwyr mewn pob cerbyd trafnidiaeth i ddisgyblion oedran cynradd os oes 16 neu ragor o seddau a bydd y cynorthwyydd hwnnw’n sicrhau bod y plant yn gwisgo’r gwregysau. Bydd y gyrwyr yn sicrhau bod y plant yn gwisgo gwregysau mewn cerbydau trafnidiaeth i ysgolion cynradd gyda llai na 16 sedd.

  • Bu fandaliaeth ac ymddygiad gwael mewn rhai bysus. Mae’n bosibl y diddymir pas bws disgyblion sy’n teithio mewn unrhyw gerbyd gwasanaeth ac yn camymddwyn, yn achosi neu mewn perygl o achosi difrod neu anaf i’r cerbyd, gyrrwr neu deithwyr eraill. Os yw’r ymddygiad yn arwain at fod angen gwaith trwsio ar y cerbyd, mae gan y gweithredwr hawl i basio’r costau ymlaen i’r disgybl(ion) cysylltiedig.

There are a number of issues that seem to regularly cause concern on school transport, so we are writing to remind you of the obligations of parents/guardians and pupils have when using school transport.

  • It is essential that every child using school transport has a valid bus pass, either provided by the council or the operator (or a temporary pass/letter from the school if required). This bus pass is to be shown to the driver every time they get on the bus. Failure to produce a bus pass will result in the pupil not being allowed to travel on the bus. It is the responsibility of the parent/guardian to ensure their child(ren) boards the bus in the morning and if they are refused transport for not having a valid bus pass it is the parent/guardian who is responsible for getting the child to school. A pupil can obtain a temporary bus pass from the school office until a replacement pass has been purchased from the Vale of Glamorgan Council.

  • The wearing of seat belts is governed by the Road Traffic Act 1988 and legislation requires that all pupils travelling on school transport must use the seat belt provided. It is the responsibility of the pupil to ensure they wear their seatbelt. Primary aged pupils will have a passenger assistant on their transport if the vehicle has 16 seats or more and the passenger assistant will double check seatbelts are worn. Vehicles with less than 16 seats on primary school transport – drivers will ensure seatbelts are worn.

  • There have been incidents of vandalism and bad behaviour on some buses. Pupils travelling on any service vehicle who misbehave, cause, or risk causing damage or injury to the vehicle, driver or other passengers may have their pass withdrawn. If the behaviour results in repairs being needed to the vehicle, the operator is within their right to pass those costs onto the pupil(s) involved.
